This is such a beautiful picture. My mother and father were both born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. I never had the chance to visit, but I can see by the photographs it is very beautiful. Some day I hope to visit. Looking at this picture I can imagine what they saw.

I live on that beach...survival gets some crazy surf in the winter, but usually you can walk under those rocks and a path will take you three beaches over...pretty sweet spot

Just beautiful, La Isla del Encanto, nothing comes close to this. Indeed I miss it very much. If only life in the island improve to a tolerable level. Que Dios nos Bendiga...

This picture is not of "aguadilla beach", it is of "Survival Beach" north of Aguadilla. Best place on earth!

We spent many afternoons/weekends at Survival Beach in the Mid Seventies! It was a great place--but difficult to get down that hill!!!
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · May 11, 2008 - 19:34 EST #12
Doreen - fortunately, I did not have to climb down any hills. My friends and I were on a horseback trip down through the beach and this spot was our destination. We entered the beach further east where there wasn't a hill, then rode maybe a half mile or more along the beach to this spot.

I used to live right above this beach. My father was in the USCG and base housing overlooked this beach. The beach is called Survival Beach and it is the most beautiful place that I have ever been. We hiked down the cliffs many times, and had several sunset fires on this beach. Lots of special memories here!!

Sarah,
When did you live there? Did you go to school at Ramey?
Do you remember the "pool" with the reef almost straight out from rock. We'd go snorkeling there while the guys would surf. There were a ton of memories here...best time of my life.
Sarah S. · January 30, 2009 - 11:09 EST #15
Doreen,
I did attend Ramey school and was part of their 1992 graduating class. If you are familiar with the base housing, then you might recall the "hook" on Hook Rd., that is where I lived from '91 to '94. My father was also stationed there in the early '70s when it was an AF base. I was born there (Mayaguez)only months before he was transferred back to the states.
I do have to agree, some of my best memories are in PR. I spent a good bit of my beach time at Wilderness watching my brother surf. Shacks was my favorite place to snorkel, and I spent plenty of time at Jobos as well.

Wow, how many times we went exploring true dose rocks and caves when i was a child in aguadilla, at lunch brakes, when teacher didn't come to class, we use to go and hang out with the girls and chill out there, even at night we use to camp there,i particularly use to dive for carucho (conch) and pulpo (octopuss) there, this is the most isolated beach cost in you can find in aguadilla, great for surfing, feature in many surffing magazines what great memories. TE AMO AGUADILLA! COKY DE VILLANUEVA!
